Pacific Fuel Haul safety performance recognised at Fleet Safety Awards

Pacific Fuel Haul has been recognised for its safety performance with two awards in the third annual Australasian Fleet Safety Awards hosted by international road safety charity, Brake.

Pacific Fuel Haul’s General Manager, Matt Horan, was awarded The Road Risk Manager Award sponsored by Suzuki, and the company also picked up a highly recommended award in the Company Driver Safety Award sponsored by SurePlan.

Steve West, AM Fleet Manager at Suzuki, congratulated Matt “on his dedication to the role and commitment to addressing road risk and improving fleet safety within his organisation”. 

The Road Risk Manager award was certainly a team award for safety initiatives over the last three years by the whole Pacific Fuel Haul team, explains Matt.

“Those initiatives have led to positive safety results in areas like leading the industry in reducing speeding incidents, and include the establishment of new vision and values’ statements, cardinal rules, and new performance measuring systems,” says Matt.

 “Through our performance conversations within the whole Pacific Fuel Haul team, we have created safety development plans, policies, and employee engagement initiatives that are having tremendous results around safety.”

Pacific Fuel Haul’s CEO, Andy Stanley, thanks all Managers, Supervisors and support people, as well as our customers who have helped to promote the company’s high safety standards.

“I especially thank all our driving staff who engaged in, and adopted these initiatives and policies to make New Zealand a safer place to drive in,” says Andy.

“The Australasian Road Risk Manager of the Year Award is for the Manager who has implemented exemplary road risk management polices with proven results. A big congratulations to Matt who has put in a lot of hard work to achieve this award.”

Brake is an international road safety charity and its New Zealand division promotes road safety and campaigns against the carnage on New Zealand roads. It is also fundraising to improve support for families bereaved and injured in road crashes.
