It pays to be observant

By Tim Bowen simply paying attention, observing something wasn’t right, and alerting his supervisor has saved one of our customers thousands of dollars.

In mid-April, Tim put in a driver assessment that the tank identification circles at the Spotswood Challenge outlet were faded and hard to identify. He alerted Farmland Fuels and the maintenance folk for the outlet promptly re-painted them.

While Tim delivers to numerous sites around the North Island, it was extremely fortunate that Tim was scheduled to return to the outlet to unload product the following Monday, as he noticed that the identity circles were all painted in the wrong colour – potentially causing the wrong fuel types to be mixed and the wastage of many thousands of dollars in fuel, says Keith Newman, PFH’s Fleet Compliance Supervisor.

“Tim contacted myself immediately to alert us to the error and I contacted Farmland Fuels,” says Keith. “What was also impressive, was that he went the extra mile and alerted the night driver as well. The result was we have a very grateful client as no fuel was mixed.”
